They offer a wide range of scientific software products that help laboratories manage, analyze and automate data and workflows. Their portfolio includes enterprise lab informatics platforms with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) and data management tools.

We are seeking an Application / AI Engineer to join a lean two-person engineering team responsible for transitioning an existing AI-enabled solution into production and supporting further application development.

The initial team will operate without a dedicated QA function, meaning the engineer will take end-to-end ownership of application development, AI functionality, testing, defect resolution, deployment, and production readiness.

The immediate priority is to complete the transition and bring the solution into production, with an aggressive target of September 30. We are therefore looking for a hands-on senior engineer who can start quickly, work independently, and comfortably take responsibility beyond pure software development.

Key Accountabilities:

• Own application and AI-related development within the solution.
• Support the transition of the application into production.
• Ensure application quality through hands-on functional and regression testing.
• Take ownership of development, testing, defect resolution, deployment, and production readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain frontend functionality using React.
• Develop backend services and APIs using Python / Flask.
• Build and maintain integrations with OpenAI and AI/LLM-based agents.
• Manage prompts, AI configurations, and related application settings.
• Design and maintain integrations between application, AI, and data/platform services.
• Perform functional and regression testing as part of the engineering lifecycle.
• Investigate and resolve application and integration defects.
• Support application deployment and production-readiness activities.
• Troubleshoot application, API, AI, and production issues.
• Maintain technical documentation required for enterprise deployment and support.

Skills & Competencies

Technical:

• Strong hands-on experience with React.
• Strong experience with Python, preferably Flask.
• Strong experience designing and integrating REST APIs.
• Practical experience working with OpenAI APIs, LLMs, and AI agents.
• Experience with prompt and configuration management for AI-enabled applications.
• Understanding of LLM application patterns, integrations, and common reliability challenges.
• Hands-on experience with functional and regression testing.
• Experience with application deployment and production support.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Experience working with data platforms such as Databricks is beneficial.

Ways of Working:

• Comfortable working in a small, highly autonomous engineering team.
• Able to take end-to-end ownership across development, testing, and deployment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Comfortable working against aggressive delivery timelines.
• Able to collaborate effectively with platform/data engineers and enterprise stakeholders.

Experience & Qualification Guidelines:

• Senior-level experience in Full-Stack, Backend, or AI Application Engineering.
• Proven experience building production applications with React and Python.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs / OpenAI capabilities into real-world applications.
• Experience taking applications from development through testing and production deployment.
• Experience working within large enterprise environments is highly desirable.
• Experience in regulated industries such as life sciences or pharma is beneficial.
